Does Starfield have New Game Plus?

Starfield is just a few days away from its highly anticipated release. Before you have even gotten the chance to play and beat Starfield, director and executive producer Todd Howard released a bit of information about the game’s New Game Plus mode. Here’s what we know so far.

Will Starfield have a New Game Plus option?

Todd Howard stated in the interview with GQ that “Starfield delivers BGS’ most immersive role-playing since 2006’s Oblivion. It gives you the flexibility and options to carve out a unique identity, and even adds a unique and exciting twist on New Game+ to incentivize continued and repeat play.”

If this wasn’t concrete enough, it can’t get more concrete than that. This statement from Mr. Howard confirms that New Game Plus will be a thing in Starfield. We know that New Game Plus is more common nowadays, but this is a rare occurrence for a Bethesda video game. Bethesda video games don’t normally feature New Game Plus, but this new franchise appears like it wants to break that trend.

Details on how New Game Plus will be treated are yet to be released. We don’t know what will carry over in New Game Plus or any other changes to expect from a repeat playthrough. Todd Howard mentions “a unique and exciting twist to New Game+,” but we will just have to wait and see exactly what he means by that.

This news is exciting for a number of different reasons. For one, we know that all the time that we waited for Starfield won’t be done and over with in just one playthrough. We also know that the amount of content and entertainment we will get out of Starfield will continue to grow with each playthrough.

Once Starfield is officially released, we should have a much better understanding of what we can expect from New Game Plus. Each video game’s New Game Plus is different, so you never know what twists and turns can be thrown your way. For now, the news of Starfield including New Game Plus will have to suffice until more information is released.
