UFC 5 Cover Athlete Potentially Teased at Gamescom

UFC 5 was teased at Gamescom by EA Sports after a long layoff in the MMA video game franchise.

UFC 5’s teaser trailer doesn’t include much besides some shots of the octagon, presumably the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and a fighter before the trailer cuts to say a full reveal is coming soon. It’s been over three years since EA Sports released UFC 4. That title only had a two-year layoff between titles since UFC 3 came out in 2018.

The UFC continues to grow as the premier mixed martial arts company in the industry and fans are excited a new game is coming. Though, as with any EA Sports game, there’s some speculation about who will be the cover star.

Speculation arose around the single fighter shown close up in the trailer. Looking at the biggest stars in the UFC, and some visual clues, UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski is being floated. The Australian recently defended his belt against Yair Rodriguez finishing him by TKO in the third round. He lost to UFC Lightweight Champion Islam Makhachev in February, marking his first professional loss in just under 10 years.

When is the UFC 5 Reveal?

Don’t be surprised if EA and the UFC partner on an official trailer reveal during a UFC event. The next major pay-per-view is UFC 293 headlined by a UFC Middleweight Championship fight between Adesanya and contender Sean Strickland.
