Let’s face it, you are either going to get a Switch because of Nintendo games or a Steam Deck because of PC games. It comes down to the games. While the Nintendo Switch cannot keep up with the latest PC games like Steam can, there is a small stack of games that the Switch has and the Steam Deck cannot handle.
This article could have been a breeze to rite if I just wasted your time to remind you that the Switch has Nintendo games and the Steam Deck doesn’t. But I choose the hard road and painstakingly found the obscure titles that the Steam Deck cannot handle. To be perfectly clear, these are titles that are listed as unsupported or don’t have a rating at all on the Steam store. Unsupported doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t try to play them, but for one reason or another you won’t have a good time playing.
9. Redneck Immortal
Crema’s punishing rogue-lite involving a redneck killing things in a pyramid has no mention of Steam Deck compatibility. There is a YouTube video of someone playing the game on the Steam Deck, but using a Bluetooth peripheral to control it. With the lack of information on the game it is anyone’s guess why Crema choose not to include this game. Redneck Immortal is a combination of Serious Sam and Ziggurat. Intense fire fights, permadeath, and procedurally generated maps while said redneck tries to find immortality.
The market of crazy shooter maps with punishing stages is pretty tight and I am sure no one is demanding that this game be brought to the Deck. Reviews say that the game is kind of boring in long spurts and the weapons are unsatisfying. The game seems like a wacky collect-a-thon that could eat up a weekend. Switch owners can rest assured that they do not have to do anything fancy to play this budget title.
