SMITE: eUnited loses to themselves at the Masters LAN
During the Masters LAN, eUnited lost to both Rival in round two and then later to Spacestation in the lower bracket semi-finals.
The Masters LAN for eUnited was a complete failure at almost all points. They fell victim to themselves and played into the top team trap of only playing the meta. Many mistakes were made; not only in-game but during the drafts, as well.
Most of the games they played, Scream didn’t do so hot in jungle. He had a horrible performance on all but his Bastet. He fell behind so much so often that it made all of their sets that much harder, as they did not have the jungle presence they wanted.
The problem they ran into against SSG was in the duo lane. PolarBearMike and PandaCat were destroyed by Jeff and Barra. Baskin was also showed all of his experience in mid and caused problems. This was the only time that Scream seemed to succeed.
The only person that looked good was Benji in solo. He put the team on his back every game and dragged them to the finish line or picked them up for a win. Even during the times he seemed to be down in the lane, he was going against some of the best and was falling prey to the jungle presence.
The biggest and most important mistake was during the draft. In all but one or two games did eUnited lose with Benji on an aggressive solo. Here is where they fell prey to meta. They would just end up choosing what the meta was, not what was needed. They never adjusted to going mages in mid or when they did, never venturing from Poseidon.
Even with a great coach in Card1ac, they never adjusted to what was going on. With being the World Champions and losing a lot early on, they had a lot to prove. They did not prove anything and only brought more questions.
This team may be World Champions, but they have things to improve. Benji won the MVP at worlds for a reason, let him play his gods. They needed to leave both Achilles and Cu Chulainn open, and let the other team pick their poison. Benji is the best Cu Chulainn, which is why he is getting an eUnited skin for Cu Chulainn. He is also one of, if not the best, at Achilles in solo.
This was their tournament to lose, and they did. If they are unable to make the other team waste picks and bans, then they will continue to lose. They will need to make adjustments and make them fast.
