Counter-Strike 2 officially revealed with tons of new features

Valve has revealed today that Counter Strike 2 is in the works and that it will be releasing relatively soon. No exact date has been given yet, but the launch window is closer than you may think.

As you can see in the official tweet above, Valve has completely revamped the game and how it plays. One of the features is smoke grenades. The developer notes that every single player will see the smoke the same exact way regardless of where they are on the map. Not only that, but the smoke will be 3D rendered and interact with the environment. Smoke will fill up gaps and not simply “hang there” with open areas all around it.

No exact date has been released yet as noted, but Valve is hoping for a Summer release of this year. That’s incredibly fast even though the game is not exactly completely new but more of an overhaul. The game’s maps will remain relatively the same with the new features in lighting and upgrades to be shown off. Navigating them, however, should be quite seamless as layouts won’t be changed all that much according to Valve.

The most dynamic and important feature, especially for pro payers, is the new sub-tick feature. This will allow the servers to know the exact second you fire your weapon or move according to Valve. The dead time from previous versions will be removed with this feature and allow for all players to have instant feedback and prevent lag or making them miss their shot.

There are a host of new features, so be sure to check them all out and we’ll update you with more information as Valve puts it out.
