How to Get Overwatch 2 on Steam

Overwatch 2 will finally be available to play on Steam in a few weeks thanks to Blizzard’s new initiative to expand the reach of their games beyond Battle.net.

Blizzard Entertainment announced their future plans to bring Overwatch 2, along with some of their other games, to Steam so PC players have more than one platform to choose from when playing a Blizzard title. Blizzard has not yet specified what additional games will be coming to Steam in the future, but Overwatch 2 is a great start.

“While Battle.net remains a priority for us now and into the future, we’ve heard players want the choice of Steam for a selection of our games, starting with Overwatch 2 on August 10th. We’re happy to work with Valve to make that happen,” said Mike Ybarra, President of Blizzard Entertainment.

As Overwatch 2 joins Steam, the game will also include a new core PvP game mode, a new hero, and new PvE missions.

How to Get Overwatch 2 on Steam

Players will be able to get Overwatch 2 on Steam beginning on Aug. 10. All they need to do is head over to the Overwatch 2 Steam page once the game is live, download the free-to-play title, and then get started.

Those looking to play Overwatch 2 on Steam will still need to connect Overwatch 2 to a Battle.net account to enable cross-platform play and more. If you do not have a Battle.net account, create one here for free.

“Gamers will have another platform where they can play a beloved game that utilizes the capabilities of Steam, and developers will benefit from the effects of having the talented team at Blizzard helping us evolve our supported features and functionality for Overwatch 2,” said Gabe Newell, Valve’s President.

The press release promises that Blizzard will share the other releases coming to Steam “when the time is right.”
